Blepharoplasty

Rejuvenate and Tighten Skin Around the Eyes

As skin loses its elasticity and muscles weaken, it can cause areas to sag all around the face and neck, including around the eyes. This loose skin can also cause the eyebrows to sag. Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, removes excess skin and fat around the eyes for tighter skin and a more natural, sleek appearance of the eyes.

Our surgeons offer blepharoplasty in Silverdale, Poulsbo, and Port Orchard, WA, to patients who wish to treat loose skin around the eyes or bags under the eyes. Contact Kitsap Oral, Maxillofacial & Dental Implant Surgery today to schedule a consultation with one of our skilled cosmetic surgery experts.

Benefits of Blepharoplasty

Eyelid surgery can dramatically improve the contours around your eyes for a younger-looking appearance. This procedure is great for both men and women and can be combined with other cosmetic surgery procedures, such as a facelift or brow lift. This procedure will leave you looking more rested and alert and can improve your field of vision.

With firmer skin around the eyes, you will feel more comfortable in social situations. Results from blepharoplasty can last up to seven years or longer.

If you experience any of these conditions, blepharoplasty may be the right cosmetic treatment for you:

  • Puffiness in the eyelids, caused by fatty deposits
  • Loose or sagging skin that causes folds on the upper eyelids
  • Impaired vision due to excess skin covering the eyes
  • Bags under the eyes
  • Excess skin or fine wrinkles on the lower eyelids
  • Drooping lower eyelids that reveal the white of the eyeball below the iris

Types of Anesthesia

Our practice offers many types of anesthesia and sedation for your comfort.

Eyelid Surgery Procedure

At the consultation appointment, we will discuss your goals for treatment and determine if blepharoplasty is right for you. We will also select the right type of anesthesia for your procedure. Many patients undergo either IV sedation or general anesthesia for blepharoplasty.

At Kitsap Oral, Maxillofacial & Dental Implant Surgery, we offer both new and traditional techniques for this procedure and will determine the right one for your needs. These techniques include traditional blepharoplasty and the transconjunctival approach.

For traditional blepharoplasty, your surgeon will make an incision in the crease of the upper eyelid and/or the lower lash line to remove excess fat and skin. These incisions are hidden by the eyelashes once they heal.

For the transconjunctival approach, your surgeon will make an incision inside the lower eyelid. This is suitable for removing fat, but not excess skin. Because the incision is inside the lid, there will be no chance of visible scarring.

If you would like to try a nonsurgical approach to treating the eyelids, laser skin resurfacing is an option. This treatment involves using a laser to remove layers of skin and may delay the need for surgical blepharoplasty. Laser facial resurfacing tightens the skin around the eyes, but will not affect fatty deposits.

Our experts at Kitsap Oral, Maxillofacial & Dental Implant Surgery look forward to helping you find the right type of cosmetic treatment. If your eyelids are droopier than you desire or impair your vision, we encourage you to contact our practice in Silverdale, Poulsbo, or Port Orchard, WA. Blepharoplasty may be the ideal treatment to help you feel more confident about your eyes and achieve stunning results.
